Description
Rosin Head’s milk chocolate truffles feel like they are suffering from an identity crisis.
You’ve got to work through a few layers of packaging to get to the single truffle within. After cutting open the bag you find a little plastic tub that you pop open to reveal the chocolate in a paper cup.
The hamsa art depicted on the chocolate itself seemed at odds with the very Western world impression you get from the ‘in hash we trust’ slogan on the outer packaging. Creating a bit of branding confusion, should I do some yoga after eating this or watch a Hollywood action blockbuster?
Having tried a peanut butter cup edible in the past that was underwhelming, we held hopes for this Hash Rosin Peanut Butter Cup that were unfortunately immediately dashed. The chocolate coating’s flavour was indistinct and the ‘peanut butter’ was greasy and tasted like margarine, just like the last disappointing cup.
Whereas, the Orange Hazelnut Truffle was a standout in flavour. The classic chocolate hazelnut combination was well balanced with the citrus twist from the orange that was unexpectedly delightful. It felt like a fresh take on a Ferrero Rocher.
At the higher end of the price scale for edibles at $8 a chocolate I would certainly expect a high-end product. The peanut butter cup does not feel fancy enough for that price tag, though the orange hazelnut one I could possibly see being worth treating yourself for.
It is also worth noting that each truffle provides 10mg of THC and I found the effect milder than other 10mg edibles.
